Zee TV (stylized as ZEE TV) is a Hindi general entertainment pay television channel in India. It was launched on 2 October 1992 as the country’s first privately owned TV channel. It is owned by G Entertainment Enterprise. Zee TV was also launched in the UK in 1995.
Zee TV 2 was launched in October 1992, as the flagship channel of Zee Telefilms Limited. It started full day broadcasting in 1993. It is India’s first private TV channel. On 10 January 2007, Zee Telefilms Ltd was renamed as Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL).[citation needed]
The channel mostly broadcasts content aimed at family and new generation ranging from comedy to drama. It also aired reality shows like En Vidya Nakki, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, I Can Do That, India’s Best Cinestar Ki Khoj, and Dance India Dance.
In 2013, Zee TV, along with its sister channels, underwent a branding overhaul.
On 15 October 2017, Zee’s twenty-fifth silver jubilee, all its channels were rebranded.[citation needed]
On 30 May 2021, Zee TV planned to air four new television series in its facelift, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India.
