Portuguese newspaper A Bola report that Sporting Lisbon midfielder, and Wolves and Tottenham target Joao Palhinha will cost just £17m. The Premier League is deemed his most-likely destination in the coming weeks.
Palhinha, 26, has been linked with a move to the Premier League ever since he impressed at Euro 2020. The midfielder is just six games shy of clocking up a century of outings at Sporting – playing 38 times during the 21-22 term.
Recent reports claim that Wolves are leading the race to sign Palhinha ahead of Spurs – with the Portuguese connection, and Jorge Mendes, likely to play a big role. Everton and Leicester are also in the mix.
Now, the latest report claims Palhinha will go for just £17million if clubs do act on their interest. He has a contract at Sporting until June 2026, but it appears he will be leaving Portuguese football in the next few weeks.
Wolves and Tottenham target Palhinha to cost £17m – a bargain
Wolves could do with a midfielder this summer, or even two. Ruben Neves is now likely to depart, and Joao Moutinho is 35 and out of contract. The Portuguese contingent and Mendes make the signing of Palhinha likely.
But Tottenham could have Champions League football to offer and with Palhinha playing in that competition this season – he will have got a taste. There is no doubt, though, that £17million for Palhinha is very cheap.
