T20 world cup 2022 schedule

The 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is set to be the eighth ICC Men’s T20 World Cup tournament, which will be held in Australia in October and November 2022. Originally, the tournament was scheduled to take place in 2020, however, in July 2020, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the tournament has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In August 2020, the ICC confirmed that Australia would host the rescheduled tournament in 2022, with the T20 World Cup originally scheduled to be held in India in 2021, but later moved to the United Arab Emirates and Oman. On 21 January 2022, ICC confirmed all the fixtures of the tournament. Hosts Australia are also the defending champions.

Background
In April 2018, the ICC announced that the tournament would replace the scheduled 2021 ICC Champions Trophy. This was after the ICC granted full international status to T20 matches played between member teams from 1 January 2019.

In October 2019, it was reported that the ICC may scrap the T20 World Cup qualifiers, which were used as a pathway to qualify for the T20 World Cup. Hence, twelve teams from the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup and four teams from the qualification event will go to the T20 World Cup. On 23 January 2020, the ICC confirmed the full qualification details for the tournament. In May 2020, the ICC told the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that it reserved the right to strip hosting rights from India, after the BCCI did not receive tax exemptions from the Indian government for the tournament.

In July 2020, when the previous edition of the tournament was being reviewed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings suggested that Australia could host the tournament in October 2021 and India could host the tournament a year later. 2022. The ICC also confirmed that either Australia or India, originally the hosts of the tournament to be held in 2020 and 2021 respectively, will host the tournament.

Teams and Qualifications
Twelve teams that reached the Super 12 stage of the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup automatically qualified for the 2022 tournament. Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa have all qualified directly for the Super 12 phase of the tournament based on their performance in the 2021 tournament and their ranking as of 15 November 2021. Namibia, Scotland, Sri Lanka and the West Indies all qualified for the group stage of the competition.

The remaining four spots come from the top two teams from each of the two global qualifiers. There were a total of sixteen teams in the Global Qualifier; The bottom four teams in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (Ireland, Netherlands, Oman and Papua New Guinea), the next four highest-ranked T20 teams (Zimbabwe, Nepal, UAE and Singapore), and the eight teams that advanced to the regional finals from From the Global Qualifier A tournament, Ireland and the United Arab Emirates advanced to the T20 World Cup. The United Arab Emirates have been placed in Group A of the T20 World Cup after winning the Global Qualifier A, with Ireland placed in Group B. From Global Qualifiers.
