StarPlus is an Indian general entertainment pay television channel owned by Disney Star. The network’s programming consists of family dramas, comedies, youth-oriented reality shows, crime shows, and television movies.

When it first launched on 21 February 1992,[1] StarPlus was an English-language entertainment television channel that broadcast international television programs from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, with Zee TV as its Hindi-language counterpart. ] After ending its association with Star Zee TV on 31 March 1996, StarPlus was completely converted into a Hindi-language channel (from April 1996 to June 2000, StarPlus was a bilingual TV channel featuring Hindi and English programmes), World Network English The language counterpart is becoming the channel and the company’s CEO Sameer Nair and Head of Programming Tarun Katyal have launched a number of new shows, helping to strengthen the channel’s position as a leader in the Hindi-language television broadcasting space. The channel launched in November 2004 in the United States.
The channel’s high-definition feed was launched on 15 April 2011. It carries the same schedule as the SD feed, but with different ads. The StarPlus HD was due to launch in both the UK and Ireland in late 2011, but was delayed until 5 July 2012. On 6 October 2017, Canada’s ATN channel lost the rights to Star programming, with viewers directed to new streaming service Hotstar, which had recently launched in the Canadian market. On 4 January 2019, Star similarly discontinued its linear channels in the US in favor of Hotstar services.
