La Liga hitman Enes Unal has warned Liverpool that it will not be easy luring him away from Getafe amid reported interest from Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League challenges, speaking via NTV Spor.

At this stage, it’s not certain how much we can read into reports linking the Merseyside giants with a striker Manchester City sold to Villarreal for a cool £12 million back in 2017.

It was Fanatik, earlier this month, who first reported Liverpool’s interest in 25-year-old Unal. The Turkish press is not the most reliable at the best of times, however, even if there is space at Anfield for an old-school number nine following Divock Origi’s impending switch to AC Milan.

Unal struggled at Villarreal but, after a series of loan spells, has been a man reborn in Getafe.

He’s scored 15 goals in 35 La Liga matches for the relegation-threatened side. His most prolific campaign since a short-lived stint in the Eredivisie with FC Twente back in 2016/17.

And while Unal did confirm ‘interest’ from both inside and outside of Spain, he is in no rush to leave Getafe.

“Of course, there is some interest but the season is not over yet,” says the powerful Turkey international. “It is too early (to decide). I have a contract for three more years. My release clause is very high.

“Me and my family are happy here. So this is something to sit down and talk about together. The interest is from everywhere. Both inside and outside (of Spain).”

When pressed further on his inability to make a first-team breakthrough at the Etihad Stadium, Unal made it clear that he does not have unfinished business in the Premier League.

“I don’t have a special goal to play in England,” Unal says. “I can say that I have found my home now. It is a club that has a family structure. I enjoy the football I play and my life (here). This is very important to me. And for me to leave, there has to be something that will definitely convince me.”

“I have more maturity on the pitch. I’ve scored four headed goals this year, more than I’ve scored in previous years. I think I’ve improved in all kinds of areas.”
