Speaking on West Ham United’s YouTube channel, Mark Noble has been discussing Aaron Cresswell and his quality for the Hammers.

The West Ham skipper is gearing up for retirement, and with his final game for the club on the horizon, Noble was tasked with creating his ultimate XI of players he’s worked alongside during his career.

Interestingly, a current West Ham star made his team at left-back as Noble selected Aaron Cresswell in his side.

Noble was full of praise for the full-back stating that he’s a player who will be tough to replace once he eventually leaves West Ham.

What’s been said?

Noble had nothing but good things to say about Cresswell.

“Cress is one of those where you don’t appreciate him until he’s gone. We missed him for a month or so, technically he has a wonderful left-foot, and for what we paid for him £4m I think, he’s been an unbelievable servant for the club and he’s going to be really hard to replace, and I’m sure you would agree,” Noble said.

Unenviable task

Noble says that Cresswell will be tough to replace, and it’s hard to disagree.

In recent years, left-back has become a much more fashionable position, and these days, a quality player in that role will cost you an arm and a leg.

Left-backs are luxuries these days, and if Cresswell were born 10 years later, he’d probably be a £30m footballer rather than a £4m player.

West Ham will find it very difficult to replace the former Ipswich man, but luckily, they should still be able to get a few more years out of the 32-year-old.
