Nagrik TV is a television channel in Bangladesh. The television channel officially launched on 1 March 2018.
Nagarik TV started operations about four years ago under the leadership of mayor, businessman and television personality Anisul Haque. The channel got license in 2015. Anisul Haque’s wife, Rubana Haque, managing director of Mohammadi Group, also worked on the organization’s plans from its inception. In 2015, the presenter-producer Dr. as the chief operating officer. Abdun Noor Tushar joined the channel. Under their leadership, Nagarik TV finalized all commercial broadcasting activities. [2] Nagarik TV started experimental broadcast on 6 February 2018 from 12:00 PM. Later, Nagrik TV officially launched on 1 March 2018.[1][3] The channel was inaugurated at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.

Nagrik is a Bangladeshi Bengali language privately owned satellite and cable television channel owned by Jadu Media Limited and based in Khilkshe, Dhaka. It began operations on 1 March 2018 with the slogan “Television no, somporko” (not television, relationship; lit. ‘not television, relationship’). Citizen claims that they do not compete with local Bangladeshi television channels, and instead compete with foreign television channels by working with local television channels.

Nagrik was initially licensed to Jadu Media Limited, then owned by businessman Anisul Haque, by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission in 2013 under the name ‘Jadu TV’. During its inception, Nagrik produced several television series to be aired later. Abdun Noor Tushar later joined the channel as its CEO. The channel received its frequency allocation in January 2015

Nagorik started test transmission on 6 February 2018 and later officially went on air on 1 March 2018 at 19:00 (BST), with its first program “Swapn Simaheen” inaugurated at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Dhaka.

While launching it, Rubana Haque, Anisul Haque’s wife and managing director of Citizen, remembered her late husband. Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed expressed hope that citizens will cherish the spirit of the Liberation War and highlight the development of Bangladesh. Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu also expressed hope that the channel will meet the needs of the audience.

The channel’s primary programming line-up includes four drama television series, live music show Nagrik Cafe, animated series Superman, health-related series Deho Ghori, cooking show Mariar Ranaghar, travel series Soleman Hazari and more. Along with Bangladesh Television and Machranga Television, the channel was FIFA’s official broadcast partner in Bangladesh for the 2018 World Cup.
On 4 December 2018, the dance reality television series Bajlo Jhumur starrer Nupur premiered on Nagrik. In February 2019, the local drama series Nagarik premiered on Bangi Television. On 17 March 2019, the Turkish drama series Siya Insi Maria premiered on the channel. In December 2019, Nagorik, along with three other Bangladeshi television channels, signed an agreement with UNICEF to broadcast programs on children’s issues.

To celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr 2020, Citizen aired seven Hollywood films, including the Spider-Man, Terminator and Charlie’s Angels film franchises. Chander Haat, starring actor and director Salahuddin Lovelu, premiered in Nagorik on 2 December 2020. On 1 March 2021, the Turkish drama Binbir Ges, localized under the title Sahasra Ek Rajani, premiered on the channel. It was also made available for streaming on Bongo BD. In June 2021, two local dramas, Corporate Love and Google Village, debuted on Nagrik.
