Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, Martin Tyler and Gary Neville have been discussing Antonio Conte and his future at Tottenham.
Antonio Conte enjoyed arguably his finest evening as Tottenham’s manager on Thursday evening as his Spurs side beat Arsenal 3-0.
Conte hasn’t had the easiest of rides since joining Spurs, and there has been constant speculation about his potential departure from the club just months after arriving in north London.
However, according to Martin Tyler’s information, the manager is a bit happier at Spurs these days than he once was.
What’s been said?
Neville and Tyler discussed Conte’s situation.
“What’s happening with Conte at the end of the season?” Neville asked.
“I think he’s liking it a bit more, my intel is that he’s a bit happier than he was, he looks happier doesn’t he?” Tyler said.
“There aren’t going to be many clubs Conte is going to be able to go to. This is a great league at the moment with great managers, this is where you want to showcase yourself as a manager, and what he’s seen tonight was very special, I’ve not seen an atmosphere like that in a stadium this season. For Conte that was big tonight, Champions League, he stays, the only danger is that they don’t get into the Champions League, but tonight, irrespective of the Champions League or not, must have an impact on Conte,” Neville concluded.
Conte has rarely had the chance to feel what it’s like to manage a Tottenham team at their best in recent months, but on Thursday, he saw exactly what this Spurs side can be.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was rocking, his players were at their best, and if he can get that sort of showing out of his team every week, they will challenge for silverware.
If Spurs had put in a drab performance against Arsenal and missed out on the top four, nobody could have blamed Conte for walking away at the end of the season, but now, things are looking up at Spurs and he will certainly be more than tempted to stay.
