Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Romelu Lukaku this summer.

According to Italian publication La Republicca, Spurs are genuinely keen on signing the out-of-form Chelsea hitman, who cost the West Londoners an eye-watering £98 million last year.

Fifteen goals in 43 appearances across all competitions might illustrate that it’s been a pretty rotten return to the Premier League for Lukaku, who has only started a handful of games since January due to his declining contributions.

With Kai Havertz injured, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel started the Belgium international in Saturday’s FA Cup final with Liverpool.

But the German manager was reportedly furious with the 29-year-old.

At one point, Football London reports that Tuchel went ‘ballistic’ at his player from the touchline over his slack pressing.

The publication added that Tuchel ‘exploded’ with anger at the big striker.

Romelu Lukaku stats

Honestly, it was a horrible performance by Lukaku and if Tottenham boss Antonio Conte was watching, the Italian manager won’t have been pleased by what he saw from his former player, whom he managed at Inter Milan.

According to WhoScored, the former Nerazzurri marksman managed only 15 touches of the football in 84 minutes, underlining what a difficult time he had up against Liverpool duo Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk.

Leaving Stamford Bridge definitely seems more probable in light of his struggles at Wembley – and Tuchel’s fury.

Despite a brief upturn in fortunes in recent weeks, Lukaku doesn’t seem like he’s ever going to recover form enough to the point where he comes anywhere near justifying the money that Chelsea spent on re-signing him last summer.

If Tottenham are seriously interested – and that seems unlikely given that Harry Kane looks poised to stay in North London beyond the upcoming transfer window – then Lukaku is certainly there for the taking, particularly given that the player revealed that he’d die for Lilywhites’ coach Conte in 2021.
