Hoddle says out-of-favour Tottenham player gives Spurs another ‘string to their’ bow

Glenn Hoddle had some surprise praise for Tottenham star Lucas Moura during the Premier League’s coverage of his old side’s 3-0 win over Arsenal. Moura came off the bench during the North London victory on Thursday.

A brace from Harry Kane and a 21st league goal of the season for Son Heung-min saw Spurs ease past Arsenal to win 3-0. It reduces the gap between the two sides to just one point, with two league games still to play.

Moura, 29, clocked up his 200th appearance for Tottenham as he entered the fray with just under 20 minutes left. He has now clocked up 13 goal involvements in his 43 games this term – still an important part of the side.

His game time has reduced since the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski but Tottenham legend Hoddle praised the Brazil international. Hoddle says he offers Spurs something different from the bench, praising his work rate.

“With Tottenham now there is an added string to their bow with Moura coming on. We have good changes from the bench, when the opposition is tired,” Hoddle told the Premier League’s official TV channel.

“He runs with the ball, he is a bit different, he has a change of pace, he draws fouls, he works hard, he presses people. A nice little combination, slightly different to Kulusevski.”

Hoddle praises Tottenham star Moura: Does he stay at Spurs?

Moura is now entering a crucial spell in his career, when he is supposedly at his peak. Spurs could be in the Champions League next season and that will be tempting. But surely, Moura needs a club where he starts.

As stated, it is an important time in his career and getting the odd 20 minutes here and there for Spurs is hardly getting the most out of him. If an offer comes in for Moura, both he and Spurs should seriously consider it.
