Granit Xhaka sends clear message to north London rivals

Granit Xhaka hasn’t given up hope of Arsenal securing Champions League football, as he questions ‘if Tottenham lose’ to Norwich City.

On Monday night, Arsenal were beaten at Newcastle United which handed Spurs the clearest of chances to now secure fourth spot ahead of the Premier League finale.

After the game, Xhaka didn’t hold back in his criticism of his teammates, as he came out and gave a blunt interview regarding that defeat – Ian Wright wasn’t a fan of his actions.

Only last week, Mikel Arteta was one win away against Spurs and Champions League football was theirs.

But, they are now in a situation where they are relying upon a favour from already-relegated Norwich City, as Xhaka had this message regarding the Champions League race, whilst speaking to BBC Sport.

“If Tottenham lose and we win, you never know in football,” said Xhaka. “

“We have to hope. Before the game, everything was in our hands. It’s a totally different game now. If you have to hope in football and in life it’s different.”

XHAKA’S ARSENAL INTERVIEW CAUSING A BIT OF A STIR

Well, Tottenham fans must be really loving life right now, as it’s seemingly going all wrong for their rivals, including Xhaka’s forthright interview that’s causing a bit of a stir.

Only last week, they would have been fretting at the prospect of their bitter rivals turning up in their backyard, winning and securing Champions League football.

And whilst Tottenham have been accused of being ‘Spursy’ before, it’s Arsenal that are showcasing those traits now.

Of course, the final day drama can throw up absolutely anything, but one more point is needed by Antonio Conte’s men and the job is done.
