Writing in his column for Caught Offside, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Harry Kane and his future at Tottenham.
Kane has, of course, been strongly linked with Manchester City over the past 12 months, but now, after City announced the signing of Erling Haaland, that deal is seemingly off.
According to Romano, City have now scrapped any sort of plan to bring Kane to the club, and, in fact, the journalist says that Daniel Levy is planning on offering Kane a new contract this summer to keep him at Spurs.
What’s the story?
Romano shared what he knows about Kane’s future.
“Kane has an excellent relationship with Antonio Conte, the Italian manager will demand confirmation of Harry among the many conditions to remain Spurs manager next season as well. Many clubs are interested but it will not be an easy deal despite the rumours about Manchester United: Daniel Levy intends to offer Kane a new deal, so it will be up to Harry,” Romano wrote.
Music to Spurs fans’ ears
The fact that Harry Kane could be signing a new contract at Tottenham this summer will be music to the ears of Spurs supporters.
Say what you will about Heung-Min Son, but Harry Kane remains Tottenham’s most important player and their talisman.
The striker is closing in on becoming Spurs’ all-time top scorer, and a new deal would further cement his legendary legacy with the north London club.
Of course, whether or not Kane signs a new deal remains to be seen. After all, he was pretty adamant about leaving the club last summer.
However, with Conte at the helm and things looking up, we wouldn’t be shocked if Kane decided to commit his future to Spurs.
