Antonio Conte is a wild man on the touchline during Tottenham Hotspur encounters.

On Sunday, there were reports of two different Tottenham players receiving the hairdryer treatment mid-match.

According to Football London, the Spurs manager lamented Emerson Royal toward the end of the game, while Darren Fletcher of BT Sport revealed that Davinson Sanchez also getting a stern telling-off from the vocal figure.

But is the 52-year-old a little more mellow away from the pitch, like in training? Not according to Eric Dier.

The Lilywhites defender revealed after Sunday’s victory over Burnley that even at Hotspur Way the former Juventus and Inter Milan boss is ‘so aggressive’.

He told The Evening Standard: “On the training pitch and on the touchline he is so aggressive and intense. There’s so much intensity in training. Training is the same as it is [in games], he just feels and lives it and that just rubs off on you.”

Wild man

Clearly Conte’s animated touchline and training-ground antics are conducive for success, because Tottenham, for the most part, have been absolutely excellent under him.

And they might even have Champions League football next season.

Spurs are fourth in the Premier League table, two points clear of Arsenal who visit Newcastle United tonight.

Failure to beat Newcastle would mean a victory for Tottenham in their final Premier League game of the season – away to relegated Norwich City – would guarantee them fourth in the table and with it, a return among Europe’s elite.

And if that materialises then, well, Conte is only warming up when it comes to demands.
