Chris Sutton has offered comments on Arsenal against Tottenham Hotspur – and is urging Gabriel Magalhaes and Granit Xhaka to communicate well.

The North London derby is final here, many months after it was first scheduled to take place.

This could be one of the biggest Arsenal against Tottenham games we have seen in some times.

Both teams are gunning for Champions League qualification and find themselves going head-to-head for fourth place.

Arsenal sit four points ahead of Tottenham and know that a win tonight will seal Champions League football.

Tottenham simply have to win and close the gap to one point with two games remaining.

Chris Sutton has commented on Arsenal against Tottenham Hotspur

All eyes will be on Arsenal against Tottenham tonight and Chris Sutton thinks two Arsenal players have a particularly huge job.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, pundit Sutton has suggested that Arsenal face a problem when it comes to Tottenham star Harry Kane.

Sutton noted that Kane loves to drop deep from his striking role, making it difficult for defenders to mark him.

Sutton is urging Arsenal against following him everywhere as it can lead to ‘chaotic’ defending.

The former England striker added that there simply has to be ‘first-class communication’ between defender Gabriel and midfielder Xhaka.

Kane will be dropping into areas between the two and Sutton believes it’s vital that they know their roles tonight.

“While White will be worried about Son trying to get behind, Gabriel will be concerned about the man in front – and that is Kane,” said Sutton. “I’m not revealing any state secrets by telling you that the England striker is good at dropping deep to act as Tottenham’s source of creativity.”

“But this poses a big problem for centre backs. When Kane drops, how far do you go with him? You cannot man-mark him all the way to the halfway line, like Leeds tried to do. It leaves too many gaps and gets chaotic.”

“There needs to be first-class communication between Gabriel and Granit Xhaka so one of them always knows when Kane is his responsibility,” he added.

Arsenal will know all about Harry Kane’s threat

As Sutton says, it’s no great secret that Kane will be dropping deep and trying to open up space for Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski.

Mikel Arteta will have watched plenty of footage of Kane, when he drops into space, when he holds his position, how he uses the ball from deep.

Arsenal did a great job of stifling Kane back in September but the Tottenham ace is in much better form now.

Kane was so good against Liverpool that Gary Neville called his display ‘unbelievable’.

This is a tough test for Gabriel, Xhaka and even Ben White as Kane’s positioning is just so hard to pick up.

Just as creative from deep as he is lethal around the box, Kane is the man whose shoulders Tottenham’s Champions League hopes rest on.
