The caption says they “are expecting parents from Brazil. Roberto is due to give birth to his and Erika’s son, Noah, any day now.”
The following pictures show the couple lying in bed, sporting Calvin Klein, with an overlay quote that reads: “We can reproduce biologically or from the heart..our place is to love and be loved.”
The transgender man in the picture is seen cradling his fully grown baby bump.
Know the difference between transgender man and transgender woman
Often, people seem confused when they try to distinguish between different genders, especially when discussing the identity of a transgender person.
But, it is extremely important for you to know the exact definition of the terms before you use them, so you don’t come across as ignorant or hurt anybody’s feelings about how they identify themselves.
According to Transequality.org, “Transgender people are people whose gender identity is different from the gender they were thought to be at birth. “Trans” is often used as shorthand for transgender.”
A transgender man, such as the one in the Calvin Klein ad, lives as a man today but was thought to be female when he was born.
Most trans men identify themselves simply as a “man”.
The same goes with a transgender woman, who lives as a woman today, but was thought to be male when she was born.
If you are wondering if a man can become pregnant, let us tell you it isn’t biologically possible. An individual born with male reproductive organs cannot carry a child.
Twitter users want pregnant man to be treated normally
Many have noted on Twitter that an individual’s choice with their body shouldn’t be questioned, and a transgender man, who was born a female, carrying a baby should be looked at as normal.
One tweeted: “Calvin Klein featured a “pregnant transgender man” in their latest Mothers Day campaign & I don’t understand the backlash… Actually I kinda do, [but it’s] just ironic to see a “born woman” get ridiculed for her decision when equality’s y’all whole point?”
“So a woman is pregnant. This is perfectly normal,” wrote another.
Another Twitter user shared: “If they were pregnant and wanted one, yes. And if it affects their bodies, and their rights, then they should absolutely be able to choose what happens to their own bodies. He is a man. Do not call him an “it”.”
