Blockbuster movies and working with Tina Fey

It’s been nine long years since the world said goodbye to The Office cast, but where are they now? In almost a decade the characters have come a long way from dealing with the antics of Michael Scott.

The Dunder Mifflin crew first hit our screens way back in 2005. After nine seasons, in 2013 they locked up the office for good. But where are The Office cast now?

Michael Scott was brought to life by Steve Carell and headed up the office as a regional manager. He was known for his sheer incompetence in his role as the boss and his childish sense of humour.

Since becoming a household name in his role in The Office – for which the 59-year-old earned himself multiple Emmy awards and nominations – he went on to voice the villain-turn-dad Gru in Despicable Me. He even got himself an Oscar nomination for his role in the movie Foxcatcher.

His recent appearances include Netflix’s Space Force comedy series.

Rainn Wilson made it so it would be genuinely difficult for fans to imagine absolutely anyone else playing the strange, funny, and a bit intense, salesman Dwight.

Since the series finished Wilson has had a wide-ranging career. He appeared in films like The Meg and Smurfs: The Lost Village as well as dabbling in podcasts like Radio Rental and Dark Air and writing an autobiography The Bassoon King.

Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (played by Jenna Fischer) were the perfect ‘will they, won’t they?’ couple. Now, without a doubt, they were the ultimate The Office cast love stories we all rooted for. Eventually they did get together, get married and have babies – thankfully. For Krasinski playing the lovable Jim was his break-out role as he was The Office hopeless romantic.

Since then Krasinski has done very well for himself. Not only has he gone through a glow-up, the 42-year-old is married to Emily Blunt. The duo share two children. He’s starred in some killer roles including CIA analyst Jack Ryan on a revival of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Not only this he appeared, and directed, the hit movies The Quiet Place and The Quiet Place 2 alongside Blunt.

As for Fischer, since she left the series she’s led a quieter life. Although, she still had reoccurring roles in TV shows like The Mysteries of Laura and You, Me, and the Apocalypse. She starred alongside Clint Eastwood in the movie The 15:17 and even has a podcast, Office Ladies, with her former The Office co-star Angela Kinsey.

Andy Bernard – Ed Helms

Although Andy, played by Ed Helms, didn’t join The Office cast until season three it wouldn’t be long until the Cornell graduate and capella-mad character became a fan favourite. Andy was career-focused and eventually made his way so far up the ladder he took over Michael’s position.

Since the end of the show, Helms has found huge success starring in the Hangover franchise. More recently in the hit movie Tag which is based on a true story

Ryan Howard – B J Novak

Novak was actually a writer for The Office first before joining the crew as the sleazy and scheming temp Ryan. Ryan had a pretty sketchy time in the office. He spent a lot of time attempting to climb the career ladder which he did pretty well when he was made ‘Vice President of Sales’. However, he always got knocked back down pretty quickly.

Since leaving the series Novak has continued writing, appearing in movies like Inglourious Basterds, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Saving Mr. Banks, and even starred alongside his former The Office co-star and BFF Mindy Kaling in The Mindy Project.

He also wrote a bestselling children’s book ‘The Book With No Pictures’.

Now, who could forget one of the bubbliest The Office cast members? Erin took over Pam’s role as the office’s secretary and playing this character was Elli Kemper’s big break. Since the end of the show, Kemper expanded her portfolio by starring in films like Bridesmaids, 21 Jump Street, and The Secret Lives of Pets. Kemper also starred alongside Novak and Kaling in The Mindy Project.

Kemper had a lead role in Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Kelly Kapoor – Mindy Kaling

Like Novak, Mindy Kaling was a writer on the show as well as the love-obsessed Kelly. The Office even earned her an Emmy nomination in 2010 – for writing the episode where Jim and Pam got married.

Since then Kaling wrote and starred in her own show, The Mindy Project. She also entered the world of Disney by voicing ‘Disgust’ in Inside Out. The star is the producer for the hit shows Netflix’s Never Have I Ever and HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls.

Darryl Philbin – Craig Robinson

Darryl was so much more than a warehouse worker and it was Craig Robinson’s portrayal that did that. Darryl was a true favourite of the show with his tough-guy exterior and a heart of gold.

Since the show ended Robinson has secured himself several comedy roles in movies such as; Hot Tub Time Machine, Knocked Up, Pineapple Express, and This Is the End. He even became a regular on Brooklyn 99 and the Netflix hit Big Mouth.

Since the show ended fans have been dying to see the cast back together, with many hoping for a reunion. However, the closest we’ve got is John Krasinski announcing he will be directing Steve Carell in his new movie IF, according to Digital Spy.
