Arsenal & Spurs target signs fan-made contract in stands after 3-2 win, seems he’ll stay

Yesterday, Cody Gakpo delivered another outstanding display for PSV Eindhoven, with Arsenal and Tottenham keen to bring him to the Premier League.

As WhoScored shows, the 23-year-old had four shots in the 3-2 win over NEC Nijmegen, while also completing three dribbles.

It was an impressive display, but after full-time, Gakpo did something which certainly won’t please Arsenal fans, nor Tottenham supporters.

What’s the story?

Well, the PSV Eindhoven fans were in a creative mood last night, as they brought a handmade banner which replicated a contract.

You can see a photo of the banner-contract below.

With speculation of a move to the Premier League hotting up, supporters are clearly anxious about losing Gakpo to Arsenal or Spurs.

As a result, they handed the 23-year-old a can of spray paint, hoping for him to somewhat commit himself to PSV Eindhoven right before their very eyes.

Gakpo played along and sprayed his signature on the banner, although we wonder how much of that was just to appease the supporters.

Interestingly, Liverpool are also said to be keen on signing the PSV Eindhoven No.11 this summer.

Arsenal have advantage over Tottenham

In our view, Mikel Arteta has one significant advantage over Antonio Conte in this transfer battle.

Earlier this year, Gakpo admitted to being an Arsenal fan, and revealed he loves Thierry Henry.

Therefore, if the Gunners qualify for the Champions League tonight, then it will be very hard to see how Spurs have a chance of signing the Dutchman.

So far this season, Gakpo has scored 21 goals in 46 appearances, while also providing 15 assists.

He is also a leader, having captained PSV Eindhoven on 20 occasions so far this season.

It has been a freakish campaign in terms of goal involvements, and now, only time will tell where Gakpo’s efforts take him this summer.
