Reyes Cleary is leaving West Brom with Premier League trio Arsenal, Newcastle United and Everton looking to snap up the highly-rated striker in the summer transfer window, as reported by the Express and Star.

Déjà vu. Groundhog day. However you want to describe it, it’s happening again.

West Bromwich Albion have seen their fair share of talented youngsters slip through their grasp in recent times. And, after rejecting the chance to put pen to paper on a professional contract at the Hawthorns, 18-year-old Cleary appears to be going the way of Tim Iroegbunam, Louie Barry and co, a host of top-flight clubs fluttering their eyelashes in his direction.

According to The Mail, Arsenal have ‘expressed an interest’. As have Newcastle, Everton and Southampton.

So too Bayer Leverkusen, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and a Red Bull Salzburg side famed for setting talented young players on the pathway to greatness, from Sadio Mane to Erling Haaland, Dominik Szoboszlai to Naby Keita.

Reyes Cleary leaving West Brom

Where Cleary is plying his trade next term remains to be seen. But it certainly won’t be West Bromwich Albion.

The Express and Star claim that the Baggies offered the free-scoring teenager what they deemed to be an ‘attractive package’. But Cleary obviously believes that his development would be better served elsewhere.

The striker, who’s scored over 30 goals this term for West Brom’s youth sides, has informed the club of his decision, with Cleary’s stance the reason why he has been conspicuous by his absence in recent U23 fixtures.

Clearly is also expected to be left out of the squad when West Brom take on Midland rivals Wolves in the Premier League Cup final on Friday.

“He’s a player we’ve got with lots of potential,” Albion U23s boss Richard Beale tells Birmingham Live. “Every single day, we are working to polish an uncut diamond

“He has a mature head on his shoulders and he knows he needs to work hard. He can be anything he wants to be. We’re really excited by his potential and what he could become.”

“He’s shown what he’s capable of. And, in most of the games, he’s managed to score a goal.

“He’s got a number of ways of scoring. Left foot, right foot, can do a little bit more aerially and he’s still got lots to learn, but he’s a really good lad.”
