Pierluigi Gollini has posted on Instagram after Tottenham’s final home game of the season, hinting it could be his last for Spurs. The Italian goalkeeper remains on loan at the club from Serie A side Atalanta.
Gollini, 27, was brought by Fabio Paratici on a loan-to-buy deal. Spurs have an option to buy him. Also, if he played 20 games – he would sign permanently. A further loan clause is also a part of the deal.
However, the Italy international has only played 10 times. An early exit from the Conference League and the impressive form of Hugo Lloris, has limited Gollini. His form in his 10 games has been questionable.
Reports of late claim Lazio and Fiorentina are showing interest in the £9million-rated stopper. Now, Gollini has added fuel to the fire by hinting he is leaving Spurs this summer, with a post on Instagram.
Gollini hints at Tottenham exit: Surely, Spurs will let him go
The Italian has shown no signs of moaning about being his side’s second-choice goalkeeper. But he will hardly want to join Spurs permanently himself. Spurs look good to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Conte will want to plan for the future. Bringing in a goalkeeper that can seriously compete with Lloris is vital – especially, as Lloris is now 35. But Spurs need better than Gollini, and Gollini needs to play football.
While it was a move last summer that made sense, it is the opposite this time around. Tottenham are keen on West Brom’s Sam Johnstone, with the England international out of contract in June.
